Through the employment of the best possible professional staff, we will provide an orderly and safe learning environment that promotes the physical and mental well being of all students, the best possible learning opportunities, activities that develop athletic, artistic, and creative skills, and we will promote appropriate student behaviors and cooperation with others.
Background:
The McCall-Donnelly School District Strategic Plan represents our community’s vision for the future. It is the result of considering hundreds of comments received from surveying and interviewing community members, students, faculty members, parents, and administrative and support staff. A diverse team of community members developed this plan to help turn a great school into an excellent school. In short, McCall-Donnelly School District Strategic Plan reflects our community’s vision about its public school system.
Goal #I- Climate
McCall-Donnelly School District shall maintain a climate in all schools that is advances learning.
- Build community and promote fairness, respectfulness, trustworthiness, responsibility and caring attitudes/behaviors.
- Provide students with educational opportunities based on their individual needs, interests, and long term goals in a safe, healthy environment.
- Employ paraprofessional staff and certifiied teachers who contribute to the successful education of the students.
- Provide safe, clean, and up-to-date facilities.
- Promote wellness and healthy lifestyle
Goal #2- Student Achievement
McCall-Donnelly School District shall provide the framework to improve the academic achievement of all students.
- Implement and monitor a K-12 curriculum that is comprehensive, linked to student achievement, and prepares them for post secondary endeavors
- Monitor and update a Comprehensive Assessment Plan
- Maintain aligned and articulated K-3 reading curriculum with a remediation plan so that all 3rd graders perform at state identified proficiency levels.
- Implement a staff evaluation system
- Utilize and maintain a staff development system that focuses on professional growth, effective instruction, and student achievement.
- Provide a system to guide secondary students on career pathways.
- Provide appropriate student / teacher ratios
- Build a framework for K-12 enrichment and acceleration opportunities
Goal #3- Communication
McCall-Donnelly School District shall communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and other community members.
- Foster and encourage participation among students, employees and the community through mutual events and activities.
- Seek community comments regarding effectively communicating with students and parents.
- Develop and implement an appropriate survey instrument and process
- Ensure consistent two-way communication with students, staff, parents and other community members.
- Become proactive and communicate by staff, students, parents, and community with our state legislators re: educational needs and funding.
Goal #4- Continuous Improvement
McCall-Donnelly School District shall implement a model for continuous improvement including a long range strategic plan and annual goals.
- Establish an implementation structure based on prioritized goals of the plan
- Implement comprehensive improvement plans for each site
- Align the district's budget development process with the strategic plan
- Report annually to Board on prioritized program implementation
Background:
According to archived documents, the McCall-Donnelly Strategic Plan was developed in 2002 and went through several revisions over the years. The plan was revised in 2007 under the leadership of Dr. Donicht.
In June of 2009 the plan was reviewed with the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Glen Szymoniak.
