Discipline
I expect students to be well behaved. If I find problems with their
behaviors I will give them: visual cues, verbal cues, “a mini hall
conference”, next a phone call home or they may need to visit
Ms. Elliot’s class to complete work or a time out, or an in school
suspension. If they show disrespect to our school or an instructor
they will be sent home for the day by Mr. Foudy’s request.
The ISAT
(Idaho Standardized Achievement Testing) Again there will be no Fall ISAT
this year. Students will only test in the spring. They are scheduled
for the end of April and the beginning of May. They will test in the
areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts and Science.
A R Reading Points
I require each student to read a minimum of fifteen AR points each
quarter at their own reading level. Placement Star Tests will take
place in the first few weeks of school so each student will know
their reading level. These points will be averaged into their quarter
reading grade. Please set up a daily reading time at home.
Plato
This is a web based software program used to supplement and
individualize Reading, Math, Writing and Grammar. This is a great
way to individualize practice for students or extend for high or low
achievers. www.plato.com is the website if you would like to read
more about this. We will devote some class time and some lab time
to Plato weekly.
Homework
Unfinished work is the majority of homework. Students will need
to study for Thursday Spelling test, read and do Math homework
including practice math facts. If your child is having what you think
is a lot of homework please call me or email me. Thank you for
checking their binders and Homework Trackers. Parents need to help
check homework trackers and stay on top of our student’s progress.
Power School
This is the student information system software our school district
uses. A note was sent home containing your login and password.
Using the web you can access your student’s grades. This is an
excellent way for you to help your child to view how he or she is
doing: see missing assignments and see successes. M is missssing,
not handed in, EX is excused, and L is late.
Correcting Work
Students can correct work called a redo. It must be turned in by the
end of the unit. Test corrections are extra credit, they do not
change test grades.I entered the points in the extra credit area.
Redos must be returned within three days.
