1. My Mountain Town Art Show
Kim Hamilton presented awards and recognition for the “My Mountain Town” Art Contest Winners. Whitney Marshall (K), Freya Campbell (1st), Hoyt Vonderheit (2nd), Joy Sapp (3rd), Lydia Rowe (4th), Gemma Campbell (5th), Stella Vannoy (6th), Emily Gonzalez (7th), Kylie Rawlings (8th), Sierra Berry (9th), Kailey Casteel (10th), Ava Rinker (11th), and Skyler Mann (12th). You all are extremely gifted and talented artists. Congratulations on your beautiful pieces. Reach out to Kim Hamilton or any of the committee members to get your Christmas cards.
2. School Safety Committee
The School Safety Committee met again to review practice, procedures, and security throughout the school district. Topics were training, EMS collaboration, access to the building by EMS and overall security. They are looking into a system called Gaggle, a student safety software enabling K-12 schools to monitor student activity on school-provided devices for concerning content.
3. Calendar Committee
Calendar Committee is working on 2024-2025 school year calendar. Make sure your voice is heard by filling out the survey on our website. Encourage any parent or community member to fill it out as well. Go to www.mdsd.org to find the link.
4. Meal Price Increase
Unfortunately, with rising costs meal prices have increased as well. Please look to the website for the updated 2023-2024 pricing. And never ever will a child go in need of a meal at school.
5. Staff Housing Street Names
We have names for the streets (almost). The board directed the superintendent to use the district mascots for naming the 4 streets in our future subdivision. Stay tuned.
6. ECC Name
It’s official! The name of the early childhood center is McCall Donnelly Early Childhood Center (MDECC). Everything is still on track to open this fall!
7. ECC and District Staffing
The district will continue with the overflow teacher position for BRMES for the 23-24 school year. The district also has permission from the board to open up the following positions for the McCall Donnelly Early Childhood Center:
Director (July start date)
Multiple ECC Para Professionals (August start date)
Admin Assistant (August start date)
Custodial (July start date)

8. June Board Meeting Change of Date June 5th will be the new date for our board meeting. This will allow the District Office to get contracts and Healthcare enrollment taken care of before staff leave for the summer.
